project overview.
Challenge
The challenge was to create a digital experience for coffee lovers, order system for baristas, full corporate identity, and branding materials for the new startup.
When it came to the application and the website, the goal was to introduce a completely new kind of service with no existing example in the market. To support this, the user experience needed to be as seamless and frictionless as possible throughout the entire journey.

Based on the brief, the project started with a comprehensive benchmark research and primary focus on defining best UX practices, crafting information architecture, and designing core layouts. The Frink project followed a two-phase design process focused on crafting the user experience for two mobile applications. The first, called Frink, was the main app for customers to subscribe and place their coffee orders. The second, called the Reader app, was developed for baristas to receive and manage these orders.

Analyzing the project requirement document and visualized scheme, I identified key features and created high-fidelity wireframes and user flows, which were later reviewed and approved by the client.
Key Features
Given that it was among the first of its kind in the industry, my goal was to ensure the app was intuitive and easy to navigate, while also delivering a playful and engaging user experience. With this in mind, my team and I designed an unusual layout to make it more fun to use and very easy to customize users' perfect cup of coffee with a number of features. Such as:
“Pick Up Now”: With this option, there is no need to select a location or store — it's designed for use when you’re already inside the café. Simply choose your coffee size and milk preference, then tap.
“Remote Order”: This option allows users to choose a store based on their current location and select how many minutes later they’d like to pick up their coffee.
Customization options for the coffee, including drink type, milk preference, and cup size.
Pickup time options— either immediately or scheduled between 5 to 60 minutes later.
A personal QR code generated after each order, allowing users to track the order status and pick it up with ease.
On the Reader app side, we designed an interface that allows baristas to track incoming coffee orders in real time. To prevent any potential fraud during order pickup, the app also enables baristas to verify the customer's identity directly through the system when they arrive to collect their order.

results
To help the development teams better understand the interactions and user flows across the screens, we created a user flow map using a dedicated tool. This map clearly illustrated the redirections triggered by button or link clicks on each screen. By doing so, I was able to communicate exactly what each action would lead to and which screen the user would be directed to next, making the hand-off process more efficient and transparent.
Upon testing the application with real-life users the flow required minor changes and received great reviews, including awards (Altın Örümcek Awards — 1st, Food & Beverage, 2nd, Microsite, 3rd, Mobile App - Service)
new experiences & learnings
As both the designer and a user of this app, I can genuinely say that it has been a pleasant experience and has made my coffee experience much easier.
As the UX Design Lead and Designer, I was responsible for the overall UX/UI design process — from research, ideation and information architecture (IA) to high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes of all core pages and and prototype testing for both apps.
Designing the entire UX/UI process for a startup project with no existing equivalent in Turkey was both a challenging and highly instructive experience for me, despite the heavy workload — from initial ideas, weekly sessions to the final design. Designing brands is one thing, but bringing them to life in amazing ways adds a whole new dimension to my work.
